Interview conducted by Jessie L. Embry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 17 March 1988. Smith talks of his early life in Texas, Arkansas, and Virginia, and of his life in Chicago, Illinois where he owned a pharmacy. He talks about his conversion to the Mormon Church and its impact on his present life.
